RH141 Red Hat Directory Server Administration Fast Track Course
Course Description
This course teaches participants directory server fundamentals and basic Red Hat Directory Server administration in a rapid track two day format, focusing on the essential aspects of managing and maintaining the directory server. RH141 introduces LDAP, including how to understand a directory and search it for information. It then shows how to set up the Red Hat Directory server and how to administer it.
Participants who desire a deeper understanding of the administration of directory servers should consider the four day RH145 Red Hat Directory Server Administration course.
Experienced Linux system administrators who wish to use the Red Hat Directory Server as a basis for an authorization subsystem integrated with Kerberos authentication will want to attend RH423 Red Hat Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication instead.
Prerequisites:

RH141 requires basic computer knowledge; it does not
require indepth knowledge of command line Linux. -
RH033 Red Hat Linux Essentials is useful, but not
required. -
Knowledge of directory service purposes and LDAP are
useful, but not required.

Goal:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to understand LDAP directories; install the Red Hat Directory Server; modify and search the directory server.
Audience:
Although the class will be taught on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, participants will be spend most of the lab time interacting with the directory server and not with the operating system. Therefore, although knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux is useful, it is not essential.
