OXtender for Samba
OXtender for Samba Services (Open-Xchange Server 5)
The OXtender for Samba Services enhances the Open-Xchange administration front-end with key Samba configuration capabilities like upgrading Linux users to Samba users and creating Samba shares. This way users of Open-Xchange Server have full access to Logon, File and Print services for Microsoft® Windows® workstations through Open-Xchange Server 5 - giving customers the option to fully replace Microsoft® Windows® Server at a lower overall software cost.
The OXtender for Samba Services enables streamlined and efficient administration with complete end user functionality managed with one single front end. All mission critical data such as emails and files are stored in a single place reducing the administration complexity.
The OXtender enables Open-Xchange Server to work as Primary Domain Controller (PDC) for Windows® Workstations. Thus administrators can easily create file shares with Open-Xchange Server which can be accessed by end users at their Windows® workstations through e.g. MS Explorer. End users can get all the information they need for their daily work with a single source.
The following diagram demonstrates the complexity of the administration task without the OXtender for Samba Services.
